Measured fabric dimensional change
A sample changes.
Keep both ratios.
Record your measured fabric length and width before and after treatment. See shrinkage or growth separately, then optionally explore starting dimensions conditional on the same sample ratios applying again.
Record a sample, then explore its ratios
NEGATIVE = SHRINKAGE · POSITIVE = GROWTH

Your measured sample has two independent factors
Length · measured sample
Conditional sizing for another piece

Measured rectangular area comparison
Product of the two directional factors. It does not add the linear percentage changes or measure skew and irregular area.
Decimal views round to at most 9 places and rounded dimensions/percent changes are marked. Copy and CSV retain exact rational values. Display precision does not establish measurement accuracy.
This is sample arithmetic, without a laundering procedure or AATCC/ISO compliance claim. It does not choose care settings, predict future behavior, grade a pattern, add seams, model warp take-up or guarantee fit. Follow the material's care information independently.
Enter observations.
Record original and final benchmark dimensions in consistent length and width directions. The tool does not supply an assumed fibre shrinkage rate.
Keep the sign.
A shorter measured dimension is a negative change; a longer one is positive growth. Retention can therefore exceed 100%.
Label the inference.
Optional target sizing inverts the measured factor once. Other pieces, treatments and repeated cycles can behave differently.
